Grade 4 Inning
On 10 July, the Grade 4 students enjoyed an exciting visit from a variety of rescued birds. Among the visitors was a hadeda that liked sitting on the trainer’s head, playful macaws that helped themselves to peanuts from his pocket, and a barn owl that flew silently above our heads.
We also met a mischievous spotted eagle owl that didn’t always listen and a hawk that dived skilfully for its treats. The most important lesson we learnt was that anyone wanting a bird as a pet must first do proper research, and we discovered that no rat poison is truly safe for wildlife.
