Our Brilliant Bodies – A New Learning Adventure!
We’re thrilled to share that a brand-new Body Systems Interest Area had been set up in our SmartZone – and was a huge hit with the girls! This exciting space invited curious minds to explore how the human body works through hands-on, interactive activities that make learning truly come alive.
The girls loved the chance to experiment with a lung model, where they watched balloons inflate and deflate to mimic breathing. A fantastic wao see how our lungs work in real life!
Over at the "blood station," things got even more interesting. Using plastic tongs, the girls rummaged through a tub of red Orbeez (representing red blood cells) to find white blood cells (polystyrene balls) and platelets (yellow pom poms). Not only was it fun—it was also a great way to learn about what blood is made of and what each part does.
At the digestive system station, the girls followed the journey food takes after we swallow it and even tried out a simple experiment to see how our stomachs help digest food.
Our budding radiologists then had a chance at the lightbox to examine x-rays and challenge themselves to identify different bones. At this same station the girls used handprints and Q-tips to build their own skeleton hands!
There was a brain station too, where memory was put to the test in a fast-paced and nerve-wracking (but fun!) memory game. For the ultimate challenge, there was a life-sized skeleton puzzle just waiting to be pieced together – not as easy as it sounds!
The excitement and enthusiasm from the girls has been wonderful to see. This new area has sparked curiosity, encouraged teamwork, and helped our learners discover just how incredible their own bodies really are!

Grade 0 and 3 Protective Behaviour Sessions
Over the past two weeks, our Grade 0 and 3 girls have taken part in the Protective Behaviours program, learning the important message: "We all have the right to feel safe, all the time." Through story time and heartfelt discussions, they explored who makes them feel safe and why it’s okay to feel all their emotions. A beautiful reminder that big feelings are welcome, and being safe means being yourself.

Our Budding U/8 and U/9 Netball Stars Shine!
On Wednesday, 8 May and Tuesday, 20 May 2025, our talented U/8 and U/9 netball teams travelled to Laerskool Swartkops and Laerskool Doringkloof in Centurion to take part in two exciting mini netball festivals. Competing against various other schools, our young athletes displayed outstanding teamwork, determination, and enthusiasm.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition. Their efforts on and off the court made us all incredibly proud.
A big well done to all the players and a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated coaches and team managers for their guidance and support!

U8 and U9 Soccer Festival
What a fantastic day of fun, teamwork and sportsmanship our U8 and U9 girls had at the Soccer Festival at Eastside School on Saturday, 24 May. Watching our St Mary’s girls take to the field with enthusiasm and determination was a joy. From the first whistle to the last cheer, they played their hearts out, supported one another, and truly embodied the spirit of our school. Thank you to all the parents who came to support their daughters- your encouragement meant the world to the girls. Thank you to our coaches and team managers for their dedication and guidance. We are so proud of how our girls represented St Mary’s in both skill and character.
