Paired Reading Launch
On Wednesday 4 February it was World Read Aloud Day, with this year’s theme being ‘Celebrate Learning’. This aligned perfectly with the introduction of our own Big Sister–Little Sister Paired Reading Programme in the Junior School, launched on the 5 February. This initiative is designed to nurture confidence, connection, and a shared love of reading.
In this programme, an older sister is paired with a younger sister, reading aloud to her and building a warm, supportive learning relationship. The older students guide, encourage, and model good reading habits, while our younger readers grow in fluency, comprehension, and joy.
This simple yet powerful act of reading together strengthens not only literacy skills but also friendships, leadership, responsibility, and a sense of belonging across the school. It is a beautiful reminder that learning is something we share, and something we celebrate.
We look forward to watching these reading partnerships flourish throughout the year as we continue to celebrate learning and reading in every corner of our school.
