Ideas in Motion

- Mrs Louise Whitelaw

The first day back at school burst into life with colour, joy, and vibrant energy as we welcomed our girls into a brand‑new year of learning, growth, and possibility. The excitement was tangible from the moment the gates opened. Girls arrived beaming in their crisp new uniforms, especially our many new students, who proudly stepped onto campus for the very first time.

A particular heart‑warming sight were the Grade 4s, delighted to be wearing the official school dress and polished school shoes for the very first time. Many of them giggled as they got used to the unfamiliar feel of proper shoes and socks, an important milestone as they transition into the Intersen Phase of the Junior School.

Our teachers set a wonderfully spirited tone for 2026 by arriving in matching “Ideas in Motion” T‑shirts, bringing this year’s theme to life with enthusiasm and unity. The campus buzzed with celebration. Bubbles drifted through the air, a drone added a touch of futuristic fun, festive music played in the background, and a vibrant hoop decorated with ribbons and balloons created the perfect photo‑booth moment. Everywhere you looked, the atmosphere sparkled with anticipation, creativity, and the promise of an inspiring year ahead.

#Connect – Building Relationships First

Our first three days were dedicated to #Connect, a time for students to reconnect with familiar faces and build new relationships with teachers and peers alike. We believe that meaningful learning takes place most effectively when strong, trusting relationships are in place. These days allowed the girls to settle in, strengthen their sense of belonging, and start the year with confidence.

#BuildYourCore – Strengthening Foundations

The first full week of school, we shifted our focus to #BuildYourCore. This important transition period allows students to consolidate key concepts learnt last year while becoming familiar with their new class routines, teachers, and learning expectations. Through games, collaborative tasks, and fun, engaging lessons, the girls spent the week establishing solid foundational skills on which the rest of the year’s learning will be built.

Parent Information Morning

Our Information Morning for parents was exceptionally well attended and warmly supported. The positive engagement from our parent community contributed to a successful and informative session, highlighting the shared commitment between home and school to ensuring the best possible year for our students.

With such an enthusiastic start, we look forward to a year filled with innovation, connection, and exciting learning opportunities. Here’s to a wonderful 2026 ahead, full of ideas in motion!
