Senior School Sport Starts the Year on a High
The Senior School sporting programme at St Mary’s DSG has started the year on an exceptionally positive and energetic note, with our students already fully immersed in training, competition, and skill development across a wide range of codes.
Pre-season training camps set the tone early, with successful camps held for tennis, swimming, volleyball, and basketball. These camps not only strengthened technical skills and fitness but also fostered team spirit, commitment, and a strong work ethic. In addition, our volleyball players benefited from an umpiring workshop, equipping them with a deeper understanding of the game and reinforcing the importance of respect and fair play.
Selection processes are currently underway for Physical Theatre, Tennis, and Squash, ensuring that students are placed in environments where they can grow, be challenged, and perform to the best of their ability.
Our swimmers have been making waves, delivering competent performances at the Midstream Gala, Summer Splash, and Hatfield Gala, truly swimming up a storm and representing the school with pride. Basketball has had a busy start to the season, competing in the Johannesburg League, while Volleyball is currently testing their skills and resilience at the Goliath Cup. Hockey has also kicked off competitively, participating in indoor fixtures against Hatfield Christian College.
As we look ahead, we are excited about the season to come — one that promises numerous opportunities for development, growth, and excellence across all our sporting codes. Sport at St Mary’s continues to play a vital role in shaping confident, resilient, and well-rounded young women.
We extend our sincere thanks to our parents and guardians, as well as our staff and support staff, for your ongoing support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. Your involvement and partnership are invaluable, and we look forward to an outstanding sporting year ahead.
