A Term of Musical Moments
St Mary’s Singers has had a particularly busy and successful season. Their performance at a friendly concert with Pretoria Boys’ High fostered wonderful camaraderie and musical connection, while their participation in the prestigious ATKV Applous competition brought well-deserved recognition — the choir was awarded Gold. We are now eagerly awaiting confirmation as to whether they will be advancing to the final round. The choir also performed at the Legato Festival hosted by Woodhill College, where they once again demonstrated musical finesse and joyful ensemble singing. We are waiting to hear if they will be invited to the gala event for a special award.
Our Orchestra has equally made their mark, performing at both the Pretoria Eisteddfod and in a friendly concert with Pretoria Boys’ High. The orchestra members have worked hard this term and their performances have been a testament to their enthusiasm and teamwork.
The Chapel Choir added their voice to the musical calendar by participating in the recent Ngothando Choir Festival at Loreto School in Queenswood, where their sacred repertoire and refined delivery created a moment of reflection and inspiration. Their contribution to chapel services continues to provide spiritual depth and beauty to the life of the school.
Together, these ensembles not only elevate the school’s musical profile but also foster lasting friendships and a love for the arts. We thank all the conductors, accompanists, organisers and administration staff who make this possible — and congratulate the students for another month of musical excellence.
We are looking forward to the annual Friends in Concert with St Alban’s College and Waterhouse Preparatory School hosted at St Mary’s DSG on 10 June.
