My Skottel Rules

- Mrs Nicki Hargreaves

Tuesday, 17 February marked one of the most anticipated highlights on our school calendar for our Grade 7s: My Skottel Rules. Each year, families gather with their daughters to share in an evening that blends creativity, collaboration, and of course, exceptional food.

From the moment the girls arrived, a delightful buzz settled over the grounds. Spots were eagerly claimed, trestle tables unfolded, and within minutes the aftercare area had transformed into a charming alfresco dining space. The thoughtful detail in the table spaces, themed décor, and the unmistakable personal flair of each family brought the event to life and set the tone for a wonderful evening ahead.

The much anticipated mystery boxes, filled with an assortment of generously donated ingredients were then handed out. With the countdown underway, the atmosphere shifted from relaxed to electric as families jumped enthusiastically into action, meal plans forming, chopping boards out, and Skottels flaming.

Laughter flowed freely between tables, lively conversations sparked across groups, and it was heartwarming to see parents and daughters working shoulder to shoulder. The challenge became a celebration of togetherness, joy, and shared achievement. As dishes came together, so too did new friendships and stronger connections within our Grade 7 school community.

We headed home with full hearts and full tummies, grateful for the generosity of DinnerBox, creativity, and spirit that made the night so memorable. True to our values, the leftover food was thoughtfully shared with organisations in need, ensuring the warmth of the event extended far beyond our school.
